Literally Speaking

Who knew that a 2.5 year old takes things so literally???

Nora has extremely bad reactions to bug bites. Our doc said to give her a dose of benedryl when we think she's been bitten to minimize this reaction.

Today was our yard care day.

Mommy was mowing, daddy doing the trim and Nora playing with her tricycle and sidewalk chalk. We finish and head in for lunch. I decided we should do the "preventative" dose of benedryl before nap so I gave Nora the medicine "spoon" (Nora likes to play that she doesn't know how to take the meds and puts it up to her mouth as asks if this is right...after a bunch of no's and yes's she gives in and takes the medicine.) All of a sudden, Nora is asking me to clean up the mess the medicine had made. I was a little confused. I had just handed the medicine to her and told it is was for her bug bites...why was it all over the floor??? It's not like she hasn't taking medicine before.

I refilled the part of the dosage I thought was lying on the floor and handed it back to her telling her not to play around and take the medicine. She takes it and starts to pour it (once again) over her bug bites. Then it dawned on me...I had told Nora the medicine was for her bug bites. She was simply trying to give it to her bug bites. An ahh-hah moment for Mommy...no sweetie...you need to drink the medicine to help your bug bites.

And once again all is right in the world!!

Fashion Disaster

Ah...sweet Nora and her sense of fashion...or not so much. Purple jammies from last night...one leg pulled up. Blue tutu. White socks with polka dots. Brown shoes. What does that equal???

Tea Party

Although I was hoping for a quiet Memorial Day weekend, we have been very busy having a ton of fun (tomorrow will hopefully be our "down" day). We've had birthday parties, family in town, baby visits and tea parties. I don't have pics of everything, but here are some of the girls at their "party". It is funny...we have been having dinners with this couple for a while now and the transformation of the girls continue to amaze me. At first playing together simply meant in the same room...now they are actually interacting with each other. It is too cute!!!! At one point, Ruby was sitting on the couch watching a little TV and Nora had to climb up right next to her...Ruby couldn't "shake" Nora all night long. Ha.

A Chef in the House

George may have left the cooking world, but lately Nora is taking his place. We cook everywhere. Her favorite spot to cook is the bathtub. We have had many a raisin finger because we cannot get her out of the tub because she is cooking!!!

Seriously...

Daddy. Apparently "seriously" is one of my chosen words. Nora has taken to repeating it when I tend to responds to her daddy with, "seriously George."

The attached is just her running through some of her sounds and words. Seriously made the list (although it is very hard to hear) so I thought I would share.

Fashion Statement?!?!

or fashion disaster?!?!?! Either or...pretty funny...and something she's going to hate in 10 years. Boy Jammies, Mommy Socks, and new Shoes. She agreed/wanted all of it!!! Bless her! :-)

Underpants

With thoughts of potty training not far away, we invested in some training pants. One night we put them on her for a little bit...I am not sure what she thought of them...

Hey...why you takin' pictures of me in my underwear?

Mom, are these supposed to feel like this?

Is this the way I do it?

Animal Sounds

For the untrained ear, the questions are...

What does a sheep say?

What does a kitty say?

What does NORA's kitties say?

The "Cheerleader" Pose

Come on Boys...A touchdown!

This cheerleading stuff is great fun!!!! PS - I have to apologize to my mommy for enjoying the whole cheerleader thing. She was watching in horror the entire morning.

Too Dang Cute...Enough Said

So aside from being adorable, she was eating a snack (hence the mouth in the first 2 pics) and she was asking for more food in the last pic (sign for eat). For some reason I just find these pics too darn stinkin' cute!

Lots of New Things

In the past few weeks we have been enjoying yet more firsts...

1) Giving up the bottle. Friday, August 30 at 7:45pm (ish) we had our last bottle. We made a little production, having Little Bit throw the bottle away, clap, what a big girl. She was so proud. Unfortunately, we woke up with something else in mind. I wish we would have gotten video of that. She threw the sippy at us, threw herself backwards and had a class three temper tantrum. It was pretty funny. Thankfully, it didn't last long. Here is her tossing her bottle in the trash.

2) We learned to jump...as long as we are holding onto something. (No video.) Her feet leave the ground and her hair bounces and bounces with each jump!

3) Reading. We've always liked a good book now she likes to read to us. Her favorites are "The Monster at the End of this Book - featuring Grover" and "Go Away Big Green Monster." It cracks me up and absolutely amazes me that she can mimic my telling of the stories.

She is growing so fast...it continues to amaze me everyday.

Cowlicks

Hopefully as Nora's hair gets longer and thicker she will "outgrow" her cowlicks. In the meantime, they can be kind of funny. Case in point...the growing beehive.

Swimming Pools and Bikinis

Since its been so hot, we thought it would be fun to get Nora a little pool. Her cousin Kelsey bought her a bikini last year so we were finally able to pull it out. Too darn CUTE!!!! The verdict on the pool is still out...maybe she will grow to like it more the hotter it gets! Time will tell.

Sweet Dreams or Bed Bugs

I know she isn't the only baby to sleep with her butt up in the air, but it really is cute. Do you think they are dreaming? Simply fell asleep while trying to crawl somewhere? Or is it just that comfortable?

I guess we will never know...

Christmas Fun

The big day finally arrived. I hated being away from "home"...I think this was only the second or third Christmas I've spent away from my family. I wish we could have been with everyone in Croghan, but we will be soon enough. Enough of that...being with Nora and George made everything just perfect...just a new kind of special Christmas. George and I dined on steak, crab legs and lobster (are you jealous yet?) for our Christmas Eve treat and Nora had her first taste of real banana's as finger food (again...jealous?). We both loved the eating...how can one not love the eating?

And then there was the presents. Nora did great! The perfect mix of actually enjoying the present as well as the boxes they came in! We have a new face we make quite often. It is very misleading since she pulls this one out when she is excited, bored, happy and ticked off. Whatever the reason it tickles George and I pink to see it.

Just Hanging Out

A relaxing Friday night. For once we just stayed home.
Errands can wait until tomorrow...right now it is time for baby to play!
Hey, you guys look funny from this angle.
It wasn't me, the pooter (elephant) did it.
