Show Off

We had our 4 month checkup and shots yesterday. Everything is right on track. I was telling some of Nora's milestones over the past month and mentioned she had rolled over but that she only did it one night and I hadn't seen her do it again. Well wouldn't you know she pulled out a flip from her tummy to her back right then and there. Amazing...little show off! And to top it off, she took her shots like a champ...the nurse said she was very very brave and I would have to agree!

Doc said we could start introducing fruits anytime this month and then veggies at 5 months. I finally had to ask why she "approves" the start of food so early compared to most docs. Simply she said that she feels kids really do enjoy eating and it doesn't hurt. Hmm...are doctors finally listening to what mothers have been saying for centuries? So off to the store we went and bought some bananas and pears. I think we are going to make the big introductions this weekend or next. The fruit really should be in between her first and second bottles in the morning which would fall at daycare and frankly I don't have the energy to translate this one! So we may try it out this weekend but really start it daily when she starts her new daycare in 2 weeks. Did I mention a new daycare?!?! I am so excited. I just couldn't deal with the communication barrier. I was lucky enough to find another place highly recommended that was in my price range. I wasn't sure for a bit I was going to have a choice in the matter. It broke my heart everyday to pick her up and not get any feedback. Not that I would have expected a 10 minute play by play, but to hear if she had a good day or was cranky would be great!

But as always I digress. Things are good. Nora is growing and amazing us more and more everyday. Who would have ever thought that a child taking out her paci and being able to put it back in her mouth would be so friggin' cool?!?!?!

And finally...she is a whopping 15lbs 8oz and 25 1/4 inches long. Her weight is still in the 90th percentile and her length isn't far behind falling in between the 75th and 90th. Least she is proportionate. Hee hee!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

I am beginning to wonder if Nora and the cats have a secret language. It seems as if Nora thinks anything the least bit liquidy needs to be lapped up like the cats do their water. Hmmm...
So I ask...is Nora more cat or kid???

Fine Dining

Our first supper wasn't nearly as stellar as some that you hear about. We did introduce cereal for the first time last Sunday. She had suddenly decided that waking up in the middle of the night hungry was a good idea. I, however, wasn't so supportive of this idea. At Nora's 3 month visit the doctor said we could start giving her cereal at any time. This alone was a little shocking...everything I've heard and read was 6 months before this much awaited addition to the diet. I guess our doctor just realized no mom follows this anyway so she might as well give me the okay so I don't feel like I am breaking the rules. Anyway (geez...I am beginning to tell stories like my husband...ARGH) we had decided that once we got back from our trip we would give this a try and Nora played right into our hands with this waking up thing (every mom will tell you that cereal helps them sleep through the night). And yes...for a 3 and a 1/2 month old to only wake up once is pretty great, but frankly she has had us spoiled for 2 months and we really DON'T want to go backwards. Well, this time the anticipation was better than the reality. I made the cereal too watery so all she did was yell at me to give her food faster (I am sure you are shocked) and since it was watery all her poor tongue would do was push it right back out of her mouth. Needless to say night one...still awake and hungry. Sigh. The bright side...over the course of the week we have made big strides. The cereal stays in her mouth and more nights than not she has gone back to her old ways giving us a good 10-11 straight hours of night night time.

Cousins, Big Mommoms and Baptisms oh my

So my Mom got a little sidetracked, but there was still more to my visit to NY.

Before I was born, mommy wasn't the only pregnant chick in the family. The results...3 baby girls (and one of them was me!).

And I have grammas older than my Mommom. Can you believe that? Crazy.

Then right before we jetted back to Big D, I was baptized. My Mommom made my beautiful gown...I cannot wait to pass it on someday if I have kids. It was the most amazing dress I have ever seen. Thanks Mommom! And more thanks to my Aunt Heather and Uncle Mike for being my Godparents. It was so nice of them to do this. I feel so special. I love them so much!
